DLE 116-GRAMMAR IN ACTION 2 ( HUMOR SHOULD BE USED AT WORK)

Humor should be used at work. When we read about this topic, I sure all of us will think it is appropriate or not. Maybe some of us will say no and some people will say yes. How about you? For me, while it has been frowned upon in the past humor at work is now being recognized for the benefits it brings to individual workers and their organizations. As the old saying goes laughter really is the best medicine and that goes for everything from common cold to the bottom line. And for some people who do not agree with this topic they think that their employees less productive others are laughing all the way to the bank!

There are many benefits for the workers who used humor at their workplace. In my opinion the biggest enemy today’s employees is workplace stress. Stress can make you feel sick, depressed, irritable and unproductive. Luckily the cure is cheap and effective; laughter. Laughter releases endorphins that reduce stress create a sense of wellbeing and make you feel more alert and humor can help you think and be more creative. When you stuck on a problem a good laugh can rid you of negative feelings and allow you to return to it with a fresh positive outlook. I also agree that people with a good sense of humor are better communicator.

One of the best ways to use humor at work is to have the confident to laugh at you. This relaxes the people around you and does not risk offending anyone finding the humor in every situation is also a good idea. People can easily relate to these types of joke and they won’t make anyone feel bad. Last but not least, humor is a great addition to any workplace. In fact workers with good sense of humor are more likely to be promoted and even keep their jobs during tough times. So put your biggest pair of clown shoes and start laughing .
